Overview
A contemporary boutique B&B converted from a two-storey town house, still with its Edwardian features intact. The B&B has modern furniture and fittings, colours and textures that complement the landscape. A purposeful blend of the old and new.
Owners
Eva and Owain Huw fell in love with Llandeilo while visiting the town on a day trip, and decided to create a boutique establishment. The result is a striking design, both attractive and ecologically sympathetic. They wanted Fronlas to reflect its beautiful surroundings – the Tywi valley and the Brecon Beacons. Many of the colour schemes were lifted directly from the area’s landscape, creating a contemporary feel that appeals to all ages.
History
Fronlas was built in 1901 and the work of transforming the Edwardian townhouse began in early 2007. Fronlas – the original name – opened its doors in April 2008.
Features
Fronlas combines both a Welsh and international feel by setting differing products alongside each other to great effect, resulting in an effective marriage of the ‘designer’ and the familiar. Its rooms boast products by Alessi, Kartell and BoConcept; as well as throws from Melin Tregwynt, furniture by Angela Gidden of Cardiff’s Attic 2, mugs by Keith Brymer Jones and organic mattresses produced by Abaca, a stone’s throw away from Llandeilo. The dining-room is a dramatic blend of Arne Jacobsen-inspired 1950s-style chairs, and local scenes captured by co-owner and photographer Owain Huw."
